MASTER THE TECHNIQUE OF THE EPINEPHRINE INJECTION

Get the free trainer

6.2 million Americans live in fear of our peanuts.

Severe anaphylactic reactions make peanuts a threat to many, including our own founder’s son.

When it comes time to use epinephrine injectors, loved ones face hesitation because they have not been trained properly or have forgotten how to use it.

THE SIX MOVES, PRACTICE PEANUT PREPAREDNESS.

01

Blue to the sky

Take the injector out of its carrier tube. Hold it in a fist, orange end pointed down. Remove the blue safety cap only when you are ready to inject.

02

Orange to the thigh

Outer thigh, mid-way between hip and knee. Ninety degrees to the leg. Through the clothes is fine — nobody needs to undress for this.

03

Until it clicks

Press firmly and straight in until you hear and feel the click. The click means the dose has started. Do not swing at it.

04

Three seconds

Keep it pressed against the leg for three full seconds so the dose finishes. Count out loud if it helps. Check your own device — hold times vary by brand.

05

Ten seconds

Remove the injector and rub the site for about ten seconds. Most people skip this step. It helps the dose absorb.

06

Nine one one

Call 911 immediately, even if the person looks better. Stay with them until paramedics arrive. A second reaction can follow the first.

Screenshot this. Print it. Teach someone.

Important writings to appease the great masters of medicine and law:

This campaign is a dramatization performed by professionals with needle-free trainers. It is education, not medical advice. Epinephrine requires a prescription — talk to a doctor about whether you or someone you love should carry it. In an emergency, call 911.

The trainer contains no needle and no medicine. Devices vary by brand — confirm hold time and technique on your own injector. WA-CHAA! contains peanuts. (Obviously.)
